VA PAY IQ

VA Disability Pay Calculator

Enter a VA disability rating and your household. Switch years and your rating and dependents stay put — amounts update without reloading the page. Official years use the exact published VA table; 2027 is a projection only, and it is labeled as one everywhere it appears.

Estimate only. VA Pay IQ is independent and is not VA or DoD. Your official amount is on your VA award letter. This calculator does not include Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) — SMC is not modelled by a simple checkbox — and it does not decide whether a dependent qualifies. A child aged 18–23 counts here only if the child is in an approved school program; do not count a child who does not meet that test.
Compensation year

2026 — official VA table, effective December 1, 2025. Source: VA.gov, verified October 29, 2026.

2027 is not an official year. The Social Security Administration announced a 3.6% COLA on October 14, 2026, which determines the percentage adjustment for VA compensation, but VA.gov still displays the 2026 dollar tables as current and has not published a verified 2027 dollar table. A 2027 result here is computed as the 2026 published amount × 1.036, rounded to the nearest cent, and the VA-published table may differ by cents. See Pay Rates and the 2027 projection page.

Shows the monthly dollar difference, annual dollar difference, and percentage change against the previous year. For 2027, the comparison is against the official 2026 table and is itself a projection. For 2024, no earlier year is in this draft, so comparison is unavailable.

Dependents (only counted at 30% and above)

How this calculation works

  1. For 10% and 20%, the published rate is the veteran-alone rate — dependents add nothing.
  2. For 30% and above with no children, the basic rate for your spouse/parent combination is used.
  3. For 30% and above with children, the basic rate already includes 1 child. Added amounts apply only to children beyond the first, at the published under-18 or schoolchild amount for your rating.
  4. Spouse Aid and Attendance, when checked, adds the published amount for your rating.
  5. Annual compensation is monthly × 12. Year-over-year percentage change is (this year − previous year) ÷ previous year × 100.
  6. Rating math does not change by year: the combined-rating and bilateral calculators carry no year toggle, because 38 CFR 4.25 and 4.26 do not change annually the way payment tables do.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a veteran alone receive at 100% in 2026?

$3,938.58 per month, or $47,262.96 per year, from the official VA compensation table effective December 1, 2025, as published on VA.gov.

Are 2027 VA rates published yet?

No. As of October 29, 2026, VA.gov still displays the 2026 dollar tables as current. The Social Security Administration announced a 3.6% COLA on October 14, 2026, which determines the percentage adjustment, but that is not a VA-published 2027 dollar table. Any 2027 figure on VA Pay IQ is labeled "Projected estimate — not a published VA rate" and is computed as the 2026 amount × 1.036.

Do dependents add anything at 10% or 20%?

No. At 10% and 20%, VA pays no additional compensation for a spouse, children, or dependent parents. Dependent amounts apply at 30% and above.

What does the year-over-year comparison show?

With "Compare with previous year" checked, the result also shows the monthly dollar difference, the annual dollar difference, and the percentage change against the previous year for the same rating and household. For 2024, no earlier year is in this draft, so comparison is unavailable.
